Natural disasters can wreck havoc on our environment, we have little control over them and they are easily ignored with a perceived safety of our everyday lives. Our attachment to familiar places and people make it difficult to settle again when everything is reshuffled. I deal with this change, reminding people of the past by leaving evidence of the erased human interactions with their environment. I intertwine figure and landscape revealing a fear of danger, whether that is real or fictional, by replacing, imposing, removing and comparing multiple found images.
In the painting process I want to play more with warm and cool colours and the opacity or translucency of paint. Pushing and pulling parts back and forward across the various combined picture spaces, sometimes working with the illusion of depth and sometimes against it to integrate, separate and compare the connection between the habitat and its inhabitants.
