Alan Yates BWS
Alan's interest in watercolour painting was revived around 1990 when he enrolled in a Watercolour Painting course run by Ray Whitehouse, a landscape artist and article writer for Leisure Painter magazine.
Alan is now living in Worcester and works as an Architects Advisor in the Construction Industry, and his spare time is taken up in search of new scenes in this wonderful countryside of ours, using pencil, watercolour, pastel and pen and wash.
Alan has enjoyed much success of late with his pastel paintings in vibrant colours, using scenes from his Mediterranean travels as well as local landscapes.
He joined the Worcester Society of Artists in 2000, and is also a member of the Wolverhampton Society of Artists, enjoying success at both Society exhibitions in recent years.
Alan is also a member of the Bevere Vivis Gallery Worcester, and regularly exhibits his paintings there, including a highly successful joint exhibition in 2003, along with his Daughter Claire.
His paintings are held in many homes in the UK, and as far away as Hong Kong, Dallas, New York and Los Angeles.
In 2008 he was offered membership of the Birmingham Watercolour Society.
In addition to painting, Alan achieves tremendous satisfaction from visiting Galleries at every opportunity for inspiration from his favourite Artists, David Curtis, John Yardley, Norman Smith and John Hammond to name a few, and firmly believes we can all learn so much from past and present day masters such as these.
