Linda enjoys working in an experimental way, allowing herself the flexibility to adapt her style to suit each subject, whether it is a study of a delicate flower or a robust landscape. Linda works in watercolour, charcoal and oils.
This series of paintings is a broad approach to aspects of “Summer”, as the season offers the painter a multitude of visual material to work from.
"In this Summer Exhibition my subject matter spans the period from when spring flowers appear on my windowsill (heralding the wealth of seasonal colour unfolding) to late summer’s riverside trees. This reflects how I am inspired by nature’s varying moods, especially those seen in the landscapes of the Worcestershire countryside (in particular the environs of the River Teme) and also along the coast.
I explore ways to make patterns of and lend textures to nature’s rhythms, spaces and the tangled energies of its undergrowth, so that fleeting qualities are held in a pictorial structure.
It is a challenging yet enjoyable process to analyse and search for ways to express my visual excitement at the dynamic qualities of a subject, at the same time discovering the calm within it.
