As a mature student, Joy Bosworth studied Ceramics at Wolverhampton Polytechnic, now the University of Wolverhampton, where she gained First Class Honours in 1987. Since that time, she has worked as a Technician/Demonstrator and then as a Teacher on Foundation Courses at a number of colleges. She was later to become a Part Time Lecturer on BA courses at Birmingham University.
In 1997, she completed an MA with Distinction at the University of Wolverhampton and since then, has been exhibiting widely throughout

"The work is prompted by a collection of images taken around boatyards and wharves.
Either white or black earthenware is used with slip painted marks and splashes and fired to 1100 degrees centigrade with a transparent
glaze.
Joy makes her own dye-plates for an extruder which gives ribbons of clay with subtle ridges and curves which she cuts and reassembles to
make vessels.
