Christopher Hughes left the famous Royal Worcester Porcelain Company in 1980 to become a freelance artist. His watercolours, oils and ceramics have been sold throughout the UK, Europe, USA, Japan and Australia
He began teaching painting at Bevere Vivis around 1985 which led to him taking painters from England to the small Greek island of Alonissos, where his painting holidays became extremely popular
Since those early days the Christopher Hughes Gallery in the Tything, became the centre for all his work. IN 2004 Chris and his wife Jane bought an olive grove in the forest of Alonissos and designed their own house and studio, where he now holds painting holidays. This commitment has meant releasing his gallery, in the Tything, but as things often go full circle, he has joined forces with Alastair and Kim Taylor at The Gallery at Bevere, where his paintings and prints can be seen, he intends to establish painting classes and workshops at The Gallery as well

Christopher was born in 1955 and studied at Swansea Univerisity. His considerable talent enabled him to be employed by the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company as an artist.
Painting various subjects, including his famous still life studies on rich ornamental vases, furnished him with an enviable reputation as a painter. Turning freelance in 1980 allowed Christopher to concentrate on his rich, highly detailed water-colour images.
Over the last few years it has been the superb water-colour images that have been enjoyed by many collectors. Game birds, especially pheasants in warm landscape settings, as well as still life and landscapes are subjects often found in Christophers original artwork. Versatility of subject and style, however are also characteristics of his work, which has been met with great interest in Saudi Arabia, America and Australia as well as leading galleries throughout Britain.
