Tania says
"I graduated from Plymouth Art College in 2010 and I now produce ceramics from my home workshop in Cornwall, where the surrounding beaches and rivers influence my work. I aspire to capture characteristics of an environment in an object connecting with aspects of the beach, the sea, the sky, rock pools, rivers and pebbles. I am influenced by moments of calm contemplation, still moments when emotionally absorbed, inspired by natural environments."
The pieces are hand built using traditional coiling and pinching techniques. Oxides in the clay body produce the colours which are an integral part of the building process. The surface is scraped to reveal the colours and patterns in the clay, then sanded after firing to create a smooth texture. Exposed internal spaces are glazed which enhances the colours in the clay.
