Sian trained in ceramics at the West Surrey College of Art and Design, Farnham, Surrey.
On leaving college she became a ceramics lecturer and teacher as well as continuing with her own work. She has exhibited nationally and internationally.
Recent work has involved the techniques of throwing, coiling, burnishing, slipping and glazing. The pots are fired by the exciting method of sawdust firing - adding other combustable materials!
Experimenting has been a continuous and revitalizing way of working with clay and the elements. The results allow each pot to have a unique style of its own.
A commission was to design a 5m floor labyrinth as part of a major restoration project for Boxgrove Priory, West Sussex. The project also involved designing and making encaustic tiles marking the St of the cross.
Sian has also made replica medieval tiles for Westminster Abbey.
