The main ideas that run through Scott's work are the concept of contrast and conforming. In order to show this, he uses a monochrome pallet playing around with the ideas of light and dark and finding the juxtaposition of streamlined forms in contrast to rustic textures. He is inspired by nature and where it meets architecture – finding that realm where unlikeliness meets comparison is what he strives to achieve.
Scott has a major passion for making and creating, using clay as a medium to create a language that communicates between the piece and the viewer. He intends to make pieces that interact with an audience whether it gives off a sense of space or touch or if it could be worn and embraced. Within his work he often looks at himself, people and the body as a source of inspiration. It could be the exterior or internal structure of the body that could hold the most influence behind the shape of his pieces, then have a more conceptual thought behind the work looking into social matters such as Body image, Identity, Gender, stereotypes and sexuality. Using these subjects he intends to make the unseen seen and make people stop and notice.
