Karinna is a contemporary artist / maker with a passion for creating unique objects from hot glass.
Using traditional glass blowing and hand forming skills combined with modern design, Karinna creates elegant pieces ranging from luxury giftware to one off art forms.
Karinna graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003 with a BA (Hons) Three Dimensional Design and then went on to the International Glass Centre, Brierley Hill, West Midlands, where she completed a one year course in Glass Techniques and Technology.
In September 2004, Karinna was awarded a hot glass internship studio at the historical Red House Glass Cone, Stourbridge, West Midlands, formally one of the Stuart Crystal glasshouses. She is now running a very successful business and is preparing to set up her own studio.
In August 2006 Karinna was selected to exhibit a piece produced in collaboration with glass artist Dean Hopkins at the British Glass Biennale, at Ruskin Glass Centre, Stourbridge.
“Glass is an incredible material. In its molten state I explore the fluidity and energy of the material, capturing the beauty in each piece as the glass cools.
I am inspired by the richness of colour and form found in nature ??“ particularly sea life and flora.
