Leon Lewis – Designer and Maker in Timber and Metal
Leon’s work follows a fascination of the relationship between the man-made and natural world.
Inspiration comes from steam powered machinery of the Industrial Revolution era as this awakens sensations of power and dynamism. The natural qualities of the materials he utilises are celebrated to evoke the senses and encourage interactivity.
Wood turning is a process that enables him to follow traditional methods of craftsmanship whilst giving a contemporary twist in order to express the kinetic motion that’s linked to his source material.
Leon strives to work in harmony with nature and source local materials in order to reduce the environmental impact of his work.
