She gained a place on a foundation degree to study applied arts at Plymouth College of Art and Design. Through her studies she encountered glass and her artistic practice moved away from ceramics.
During the first year she gained a place on a Master class at Northlands and felt that this was the turning point that enabled her to create glass past the blown form. She was also chosen for the summer shutdown at Dartington Crystal which gave her an insight into factory made glass. Throughout the second year she was exhibiting and selling glass and Jewellery, this ended in her being picked to show her work at New Designers 2008 alongside the degree students.
Simone has recently gained a BA (Hons) in Applied Arts.
My new collection of JEWELLERY has been inspired by the songbirds/ nesting birds on an organic Farm in Cornwall. They have been designed from a series of drawings that were done on a visit to Haye Farm in the Tamar Valley. The jewellery is a mixture of architectural shapes from the buildings / natural shapes and the birds themselves.
The collection is made from lamp worked glass and sterling silver.
