"My current work is inspired by materials gathered from my local area and also from the methods involved in processing the clay. The alchemy of transformation from organic to permanent and my experiments with naturally occurring patterning has led to individual pieces which combine elements of the archaic and contemporary.
While studying for my BA hons in Applied Arts at Plymouth College of Art and during my Foundation Degree at South Devon College, I have been interested in making ceramics in a more sustainable way, by sourcing the materials myself. Clay is dug from a Devon ditch (Teign Valley), and ash from the surrounding trees provides the blue matt finish. The sculptural vessels reflect the Devon landscape from which they came.
