Bethany Coram is an autistic potter from Wales who studies at UWTSD. This series of work is about getting over feeling uncomfortable around people. Her friends and family were asked to describe their fears and phobias, these were then translated into experimental surfaces that decorate the vessels. The forms of the vessels are based on the abstracted figurative silhouettes of her friends and family.
Being your full authentic self in front of others can be difficult and is often hidden away. She has used the symbolic format of a lidded vessel as a metaphor for keeping those parts of yourself closed away.
