Kara Taylor considers herself lucky to live in a beautiful part of Pembrokeshire, Wales. Her work is a response to her surrounding environment. The native flora and fauna, organic shapes and colour palette that nature provides, are the starting point for her creative process. She creates hand-built stoneware vessels layered with glazes that reflect the natural environment in all its richness and unpredictability.
This is work that is worthy of just looking and indeed from different angles as their organic nature ensures that they will change from alternative perspectives. It was this feature of her work that attracted us when the Graduate Show was being curated.
Kara graduated from Carmarthen School of Art with an Honours Degree in 2017 and appeared in the Bevere Gallery Graduate Show in 2018. Her work was popular then and the fact that she has continued to be promoted by the Gallery since is an indication of the originality of her work and the impact on our visitors.
