Peter Arscott was born in Lima, Peru in 1954 and came to school in England at 13, and later went on to Bristol University where he obtained a degree in Hispanic Studies before moving to Barcelona where he worked as a teacher.
He is a self-taught artist and had several solo and group shows until 1984 when he returned to live in London, working as a Blue Badge guide and exhibiting at various galleries. He now lives in Herefordshire and has a studio in Ledbury. He is a founder of the Ledbury Poetry Festival and is involved in the arts locally.
Recent projects include a creative enterprise with a potter and a musician producing ceramics and table paintings. His work has been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the Jerwood Drawing Prize. “Muse” at Edgarmodern, Bath, The Affordable Art Fair, London and Amsterdam, the RWA Open Autumn and the RWA Sculpture Exhibition, Bristol, and Landscape & Topography at the Hereford Art Gallery.
In recent years, his interest in ceramics has grown and the work at Bevere shows his three dimensional abstract painting to good effect as he explores the potential of clay in his work.
