Peter Spicer

Peter Spicer   1909–1994

Peter Spicer was a Worcester glove maker turned impressionist oil painter.  His work was prolific, creating mainly oil paintings on board but also pastel, watercolours and collage.  Sometimes painting on both sides of a piece of paper.

Peter has paintings in the Worcester Museum permanent collection and The Peter Spicer Award is made by the City Art Gallery at the Worcester Society of Artists – of whom he was an active member and chairman – Annual Exhibition to the artist whose work is of exceptional quality, creative and imaginative.

Peter was involved with the Bevere Vivis Art Group (a forerunner of today’s Bevere Gallery) back in the ’70s and was a great support to its founder Heather Taylor.

In 2022 Heather’s son Alastair – now the business owner with his wife Kim –  were offered a collection of Peter’s originals by a member of his family.  It is part of this collection that we now present here.
