Sarah Ross-Thompson
As a Fine Art Printmaker, Sarah Ross-Thompson specialises in hand-inked, collagraph prints, originally inspired by the Dorset landscape. Having relocated to the West Coast of Scotland in 2013, her work has begun to be influenced by the dramatic, rugged scenery of her new home.
Using carefully constructed collage blocks her work combines the vibrant colours of oil-based printing inks with the textural qualities of the collage materials used in her collagraph blocks. This combination produces a distinctive look that makes her work instantly recognisable. Having experimented with a number of techniques she now works almost exclusively in this method.
Following a degree in English and Classics in London, Sarah returned to her first love, Art, studying at Bournemouth College of Art and Design. On graduating, her work was selected for the National Print Exhibition in 1997 at the Mall Galleries and this prompted a solo show in London later that year. Her work has become increasingly recognisable and she is now a regular house artist for a number of galleries across the UK.
Sarah has recently reached a more international audience with an article published about her printmaking in Pratiques des Art in Paris last Spring. She was also selected for the Royal Scottish Academy Winter Exhibition in 2015.
