Zoe Taylor

Zoe Taylor takes her inspiration from the landscape. In the studio, she usually works from field sketches. These sketches can be very simple representations of the landscape or more about the shapes and essence of the view which allow her some means of working back to the semi abstract.

Zoe tends to work quickly with high pigment acrylics on heavyweight Fabriano paper with both painting knife and brush, trying to bring the immediacy and energy of her sketches to the finished paintings. Scratched marks are ever present in her work indicating felt or seen movement.

Whilst the drawings are from specific places, she often don’t reference place as they are more of a distilled response of the area.
