Carol Sinclair

Carol Sinclair is a ceramic artist based in Angus and a graduate of Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen. She has been running her practice since 1991, initially establishing a handmade tile studio and gallery in Edinburgh before developing a national exhibiting career.

Working primarily in hand-built porcelain, Carol explores themes of connection, place, and environmental responsibility. She employs a distinctive inlay technique using minimal coloured material to create pattern and imagery within softly formed, asymmetric sculptural pieces. Her practice follows a closed-loop, environmentally responsible approach, prioritising reclaimed and recycled materials.

Carol is a Selected Member of the Craft Potters Association and a member of Contemporary Applied Arts, London, Visual Arts Scotland, and the Society of Scottish Artists. Her work is held in the permanent collection of Aberdeen Art Gallery. In 2026, she was awarded Visual Arts Scotland Maker of the Year.
