Britain boasts a particularly fine tradition of slipware pottery. Fitch and McAndrew draw on this rich heritage and use it as the basis for their own work, where they attempt to capture the essence of these historical pieces, reinterpreted in a contemporary style.
They throw pots on the wheel or use press moulding and slab building techniques. They decorate pots with applied clay patterns and sprigs, with trailed, poured and brushed slips and finish them with rich, glossy glazes.
