Once again, this years cohort of graduates clearly show skill, individual voices and diversity. Surprisingly, the use of computer design and printing (which looked like becoming a dominant making technique) is less evident than in some years and it is interesting that the fundamental skills in modelling clay are still being used as the most effective vehicle for expressing individual creativity. Given that we are asking visitors to the show to vote for the maker they like the best – the winner will be represented by us for the coming year – it is hardly appropriate for us to draw attention to one or two particular graduates. However, there are a range of pieces here that demonstrate emerging makers are still able to express their individuality and sometimes very provocatively. This will be an exhibition which we anticipate people taking time to explore – there is much to please and hopefully stimulate. We look forward to sharing it, and discussing it, with you. |
