THE SUMMER EXHIBITION July 8th – 2nd September
Now that Summer is here again we are delighted to have a special event that will encourage new as well as our regular visitors, and once again demonstrate the range and quality of contemporary ceramic art.
This exhibition of twelve experienced ceramicists is focused on two criteria – COLOUR and TEXTURE. Whilst some of these makers have shown here before, we are delighted that a number are first time Bevere exhibitors. They all bring to us a fascinating range of approaches to design, the handling of clay and contrasting decorative techniques. Importantly, there is a strong emphasis on utility. Ceramics of quality that can and should be used daily and will enhance any drink or meal. This does not mean that tableware is rather ordinary, on the contrary this work clearly demonstrates that the humble cup or bowl can have the same presence as the purely decorative piece.
As with all our features, we hope that this Summer Exhibition will reaffirm why ceramics is a significant aspect of art and craft for the enthusiasts and, for those less familiar with it – an opportunity to gain insights into the beauty of clay as a unique material for expressing creative endeavor.
